I am Karolina Pyziak-Kowalska, MD, PhD, a specialist in infectious diseases who also practices hepatology and travel medicine, with more than 20 years of clinical experience with infectious disease patients. Since 2023 I have headed a branch of the Polish National Network of Travel Medicine Centres, and I am a member of the Polish Society of Maritime, Tropical and Travel Medicine. I hold first-author peer-reviewed research on HIV and HCV testing, most recently published in PLOS ONE in 2026. My practice, ZnajomaKlinika, is located in the Bielany district of Warsaw, close to Żoliborz.

Pre-travel consultation

A pre-travel consultation reviews your itinerary and health background before departure and covers the following elements in a single visit.

Itinerary and route review, including planned activities, accommodation, and length of stay.

Review of your health history and current medication to identify individual risk factors.

Qualification for travel-related vaccinations based on your destination and itinerary.

Assessment of malaria risk for the region you are visiting and, where relevant, discussion of prophylaxis options.

Vaccination performed on site during the same visit, once qualification is complete.

Certified travel medicine centre

ZnajomaKlinika holds a current COMP certificate, valid to 2028, confirming it as a certified Travel Medicine Centre. The practice is an authorized yellow fever vaccination point and can issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP, commonly known as the "yellow book"), required for entry to certain countries. More detail on this vaccination is available on the yellow fever vaccination page, and a full overview of the travel vaccinations I provide is on the travel vaccinations page.

When to schedule your visit

The World Health Organization recommends a pre-travel consultation 4 to 8 weeks before departure; the CDC recommends at least a month. Scheduling within this window allows time for vaccine courses that require more than one dose and for immunity to develop before travel. A consultation closer to departure can still be useful, since some protective measures and documentation can be arranged on shorter notice.

Consultations in English

Consultations are available in English, both in person and online. A Polish PESEL number is not required — a passport or residence card is sufficient for registration. Prescriptions and medical certificates are issued on site. The clinic accepts payment by card, bank transfer, or BLIK, and prices for international patients are the same as for Polish patients. ZnajomaKlinika is located at ul. Stefana Żeromskiego 55/67, 01-882 Warsaw, in the Bielany district near Żoliborz, within walking distance of the M1 metro line (Słodowiec and Stare Bielany stations). For more on my background and qualifications, see the about page.

Travel medicine for children

Travel vaccinations are available for children of any age. Infectious-disease and hepatology consultations are available for children from age 6; younger children are referred to a paediatric infectious disease specialist.

After your trip

Fever after returning from a tropical destination should be assessed urgently, since it can have a number of causes, some of which require prompt treatment. If you develop fever or other symptoms after travel, contact the clinic or seek urgent medical care without delay. More information on infectious-disease consultations is available on the infectious disease doctor page.

Appointments

Consultations for international patients can be booked by phone at +48 22 273 48 22 or +48 608 030 750 (the reception team speaks English), or by email at kontakt@doktorpyziak.pl.
