I provide hepatitis C (HCV) testing and treatment consultations in English for patients living in or visiting Warsaw, including expats, diplomats, students and international residents. As a specialist in infectious diseases who also practises hepatology, I assess HCV status, review treatment options and monitor patients through the course of therapy.
Diagnosis usually starts with an anti-HCV antibody test, which shows whether a person has ever been exposed to the hepatitis C virus. A positive antibody result does not, on its own, confirm active infection, so it is followed by an HCV RNA test, which detects the virus itself and confirms whether the infection is currently present. I explain the meaning of each result during the consultation and what, if anything, the next step should be. I have published peer-reviewed research on HCV and HIV testing, including a first-author paper in PLOS ONE (2026).
Hepatitis C is treated with modern direct-acting antiviral (DAA) medication, taken orally over a defined course, which has replaced older interferon-based regimens and is described in current international treatment guidelines as highly effective. During the consultation I review the patient's HCV genotype where relevant, general health, current medications and any liver-related findings, and explain the treatment pathway available in Poland. This page is general information rather than individual medical advice; dosing and treatment plans are discussed and set out during the consultation itself.
Because hepatitis C can affect the liver over time, I also assess liver function and, where indicated, refer for imaging or fibrosis assessment. Patients already diagnosed with HCV, or currently on antiviral treatment prescribed elsewhere, are also welcome for monitoring visits — reviewing blood results, treatment response and liver parameters, and coordinating follow-up testing. Consultations are available both for an initial diagnostic work-up and for the ongoing care of a known HCV infection.

Consultations are held in English, in person or online, at ZnajomaKlinika, ul. Stefana Żeromskiego 55/67, in the Bielany district near Bielany (metro line M1, Słodowiec or Stare Bielany station). No Polish PESEL number is required — a passport or residence card is sufficient for registration. Prescriptions and any medical certificates are issued on site. Office hours are Monday to Thursday, 14:00–20:00, Friday 9:15–10:15 (online consultations only), and Saturday, 10:00–15:30. Payment can be made by card, bank transfer or BLIK, at the same prices as for Polish-speaking patients: an infectious-disease/hepatology consultation is 400 PLN in person or 350 PLN online.
